Reclaiming Patriotism: A Call to Reform the Patriot Act

On June 10th, 2009, I helped to organize a transpartisan coalition meeting in DC on Patriot Act reform and other domestic intelligence programs and powers including Fusion Centers.  it was a co-sponsored meeting including cosponsorship by the Campaign for liberty, Transpartisan Center and the ACLU It was well attended for our first meeting among many more to come to which our intention is to help grow the left/right efforts on protecting Americans civil liberties against excessive state power.  Another intention of the meeting was to help expand existing coaliiton efforts including opengovernment.org, EPICs Privacy Coalition, ACLU's Surveilance Coalition  and the Make It Safe Coalition (whistleblower protections)  I have been fortunate to a part of all of those coalition as either a member or founding partner.  Each does excellent work and I am hopeful that our efforts can increase their numbers and therefore their reach and effectiveness.  We are looking for more groups: liberal, conservative, libertarian and progressive to join us in our efforts and welcome suggestions, contacts and support.
